The Vandoren V12 are a thicker blank reed than the traditional one. They tend to give a darker and warmer sound compared to the traditional Vandoren reed. The V12 reed was introduced to meet the demands of many professionals who required a different type of response from their reeds than the traditional cut. They have proved very popular since their introduction, not only with experienced players, but also with some beginners who find this reed suits them. V12 reeds are thicker at each end. The thickness at the tip is 10mm (0.004 inch), while the thickness at the heel is 0.15mm (0.124 inches, hence the name V12).They have a longer pallet than the traditional reeds - so more of the reed is vibrating, resulting in a deeper, richer sound. The thicker tip gives body to the attack, and also increases the longevity of the reed. Individually wrapped in humidity barrier packaging, each reed is sealed at the ideal humidity level. Giving excellent playability straight out of the box. Each reed is selected and graded by sophisticated electronics to maintain consistency in each box. File cut for fast response.
