The Yamaha 26ii is one of the best available student clarinets and pre owned reconditioned examples now offer a viable, affordable alternative to the Buffet B12. Yamaha instruments are precisely constructed to an excellent exacting standard, being some of the very best instruments available on the market. Yamaha’s have always had superbly designed key work and often praised for their durability. This clarinet came with an adjustable thumb rest long before Buffet thought to include one on their student instrument! The excellent 6C mouthpiece, which comes as standard with this instrument, is even better than the Buffet offering and can be regarded as something of an upgrade over the typical starter mouthpiece. Universally accepted by teachers, the Yamaha 26ii clarinets represent excellent value for money, easily taking any new beginner from the first note to beyond grade 5.

This particular Yamaha 26ii is a fully refurbished pre-owned example in fantastic condition. The instrument has a lovely warm and even tone throughout the whole range and is exceptionally free blowing. The key action is both light and precise just as it was when it came out of the factory. This clarinet is in beautiful condition and plays just as when it was new, representing exceptional value for money. The pads are all in excellent condition and the key-work has been fully cleaned, checked, oiled and regulated.   

The RRP of brand new 250, which is the model which has superceded the 26ii,  is around £470 – This fully refurbished example represents a real opportunity to grab a genuine bargain!

As the photos illustrate, the clarinet is in excellent condition with no splits or cracks to the body. All pads are in lovely condition and seal properly, as they should.

The instrument comes presented in its original hard case, which is in excellent condition. It also comes complete with two brand new 11/2 strength reeds and a brand new tube of cork grease to help keep your instrument in pristine condition. *NOTE* If you are already a more experienced player and would like a pair of stronger reeds, please let us know and we will be more than happy to include your preferred grade of reed, instead, at no additional cost.

Refurbishment Process

All JN instruments are fully cleaned and refurbished. When an instrument comes into the workshop, it is fully stripped down on the bench to it's component parts. The key work is removed from the upper and lower joints of the instrument and the main body carefully cleaned. The reed and ligature are removed from the mouthpiece which is then thoroughly washed to remove all traces of the previous owner. The pads, precision mechanisms and springs are checked for wear and damage and are replaced or overhauled where necessary, whilst the springs are either replaced or re-tensioned throughout. The key work is then finely polished to a deep mirror-like shine. Next, the instrument is fully reassembled, tuned and regulated by one of our two technicians. Finally, the instrument is play tested and adjusted where necessary to give balance across the entire tonal range. As part of the refurbishment process each instrument is assessed for any imperfections in the plating, dents and scratches. After close examination of this particular instrument we can report that this particular instrument is in beautiful condition with no chips or cracks to the body of the instrument, even the Yamaha crests are just as they came out of the factory. There is a small amount of light surface scratching to the barrel, please see the first photograph below. The key work is in excellent factory fresh condition with no plating wear or imperfections that I can see. The mouthpiece, ligature and mouthpiece cap are all in very good working order. Overall, this is an excellent example of the very well regarded Yamaha 26ii with the later wooden effect body and adjustable thumbrest, being supplied fully serviced for you to play and enjoy for many years to come!
